CHIERICI VITTORIA
Vittoria Chierici (Bologna 7/04/1955) moves with her family to Milan where she finishes her classical studies at lyceum. She attends the University of Bologna Dams (Disciplines of Arts, Music and Entertainment) and takes her degree with the art historian Paolo Fossati in 1979.
After graduation she attends the University of Berkeley for a year and she studies at Columbia University in New York, where she starts the doctorate programme in American Art of the Twentieth century. During these years, she takes courses in photography and cinematography at the Parsons School of Design and the School of Visual Arts in New York, enrolling there in 1981 in order to attend the Fine Arts classes full time studying with David Salle.
In the early 1990s she receives a diploma in filmmaking. During her New York sojourn, she inaugurates the exhibition space, The Parallel Window opened by the painter Manuela Filiaci.
Chierici returns to Italy in 1983 invited by the art critic Francesca Alinovi, where she joins the group of young artists of Bologna: the Enfatisti. In 1984 she moves to Milan where she begins with Corrado Levi and a group of young Italian and new Yorker artists an intense exhibitory activity in Italy and abroad.
In 1990 she founds with the artists Ivo Bonacorsi and Emanuela Ligabue, the photographer Miro Zagnoli, the sociologist Pasquale Alferj, the journalist and writer Dina Bara and the art historian Dario Trento the aperiodic contemporary art journal Slam. The next year the same group produces Infarto a satirical journal of contemporary art but for only two issues.
Between 1990 and 1991 she starts the company Art & Mass in Milan with the artists Stefano Arienti, Amedeo Martegani and Mario Della Vedova.
His artistic career develops between Italy and New York with innovative ideas and successes. Currently New York and Bologna are her cities.
On 1999 he partecipates at Venice Biennale with the gruppo Cartello 99 for the project Oreste. Among the numerous exhibitions: “Leonardo Scomparso” at Palazzo Marzocco Anghiari, Arezzo 2000, “Sette ipotesi sulla battaglia di Anghiari” personal at Galleria Studio Mascarella in Bologna and “La battaglia di Monteaperti” personal at Museo Civico of Siena in 2001. “Battaglie” at Palazzo Sabatini of Arezzo in 2003.
Since 2003, Vittoria Chierici has exhibited in New York at the Esso Gallery, at Italian Institute of Culture and in other cities like Chicago and Vancouver. He also collaborated with artists from other disciplines, such as the choreographer Liz Gerring and composers Eve Beglarian and Ana Milosavljevic.
On 2012 the exibition “Variazioni, Riproposizioni, Modifiche” in Budrio at Le Torri dell’Acqua from 14/04 to 06/05. During the exhibition of Vittoria Chierici on 05/05, Ana Milosavljevic presents some pieces composed and interpreted by her acoustic violin and electric violin called the Viper. As first music of the concert (60 minutes concert time) is given in world premiere with live music, Vittoria Chierici film "Luci in the Sky", published by Yuko Takebe with original music by Milosavljevic.
In Milan, Frigoriferi Milanesi presents Frigodiffusione a tribute to Victoria Chierici: "Sailing away to Paint to Sea - - Voglio viaggiare su una nave per dipingere il mare". At the Gallery in Piranesi street from 7 to 10 February 2013.
